Paint Job, Reno Needed for GA High School

Marietta City Schools is seeking contractors to perform renovations on Marietta High School located in Marietta City, Georgia.

Marietta High School was established in 1892 and currently serves 2,466 students and 165 faculty members. The school system recently updated its Marietta Sixth Grade Academy as part of a $6.9 million renovation and construction project.

Marietta City Schools is seeking contractors to perform renovations on Marietta High School located in Marietta City, Georgia.

Bids are due for this project by April 17.

A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on March 27.

Scope of Work 

The selected contractor will be responsible for providing exterior painting services, plumbing and gas piping renovation, heating ventilation, air conditioning work and electric repair services.

The contractor will oversee elastomeric rubber insulation applications to protect piping insulation routed on floors, across walkways and in exterior surfaces. Elastomeric applications exposed to outdoor conditions will require multiple recommended applications of a vinyl lacquer-type coating with a minimum of two coats.

Work will include painting of the school’s exterior, existing and new gas piping, as well as four new ships ladders located on the roof. CMU substrates will receive a three-coat latex system with a semi-gloss exterior top coat. Steel and iron substrates will be coated in a three-coat alkyd system including a exterior alkyd gloss topcoat. Galvanized metal substrates will receive a galvanized cementitious primer, exterior alkyd enamel intermediate and alkyd exterior topcoat. Aluminum substrates will be coated with an aluminum quick-dry primer, exterior alkyd enamel intermediate and alkyd exterior gloss topcoat.

The contractor must refer to the manufacturer’s color charts for each type of coating system, color and gloss of topcoat. For quality assurance, mockups must be provided with a brush out of each coating system indicated, each color and finish selected in order for preliminary selections to be made.

The owner-approved elastomeric sealant manufacturer is Armacell North America or an approved equivalent by IMCOA or Dow.  

Owner-approved coating manufacturers include AkzoNobel, PPG and Sherwin-Williams.
