The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking contractors for the full removal and replacement of coatings of two Spanish River Boulevard Bridges.

Bids are due Jan. 4, 2019.

Scope of Work

The project will include full removal and replacement of the existing structural steel coating system as well as rehabilitation and reconditioning of span locks on the two existing Spanish River Boulevard Bridges. This project follows a recent $67,000,000, 2.5-mile interchange construction project on Spanish River Boulevard, which was completed in Fall 2017 by Astaldi Construction Corporation.

The existing structural steel will require abrasive blast-cleaning to Bare Metal (SSPC-SP 11), Hand-Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 2) and Power Tool Cleaning (SSPC-SP 3) for full removal of existing coatings. The steel will then be coated with an organic zinc-rich system. This system is subject to change according to project requirements. The owner-approved manufacturers are PPG, Carboline and Sherwin-Williams.

The project also includes installation of pile jackets on Spanish River Boulevard.

Certifications for SSPC-QP 1 and SSPC-QP 2 are required.
