Sarasota County, Florida, is soliciting contractors for the pressure washing, waterproofing and coating of three buildings on the Sarasota County Jail Complex.

Bids are due by Dec. 12.

Scope of Work

The awarded contractor is responsible for the pressure washing, waterproofing, preparation and coating of the north, east and west buildings of the Sarasota County Jail Complex. However, the East Jail’s northeast wall is not part of this project.

When cleaning or preparing surfaces, the contractor is to remove all miscellaneous abandoned materials, as well as inspect and patch any surface imperfections. Stucco substrates are to be cleaned with a self-cleaning system unless directed otherwise. When removing any rust, loose paint or mildew, the contractor is to use methods of pressure washing, rotary-tip pressure washing or abrasive-blast cleaning where necessary. The contractor is advised to provide their own water or approved metering device while utilizing water resources from the county. Any loose of flaking coating remaining after these methods is to be removed as required.

Prior to coating, the contractor must remove all hardware and accessories on the exterior of the building. Any previously coated exteriors are to be prepared to have a “like-new” finish, complete with a smooth surface for transition. When applying coating or a polyurethane elastomeric sealant, the contractor is to provide their own painting supplies and equipment, such as brushes, paints, high lifts, scaffolding and sling stages.

Owner-approved brands include Sherwin-Williams and Florida Paints.
