TX Ground Storage Tank Rehab Out for Bid

The City of Richmond is seeking contractors for the rehabilitation and coating of a ground storage tank in Richmond, Texas.

Bids are due Nov. 8. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held Oct. 25. 

Scope of Work

This project involves rehabilitating and recoating the interior and exterior surfaces of an existing 500,000-gallon ground water storage tank. 

Contractors will abrasive blast-clean the interior tank surfaces to Near White standards (SSPC-SP10/NACE No.2). The interior surfaces will then be coated with a three-coat epoxy system.

The exterior tank surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No.3) and coated with an epoxy primer, epoxy intermediate and polyurethane finish. 

The work also includes power-tool cleaning (SSPC-SP 2/SSPC-SP 3) and coating steel pipe, ductile iron pipe and valve surfaces with an epoxy primer and polyurethane finish. Galvanized steel surfaces will be pressure-washed and coated with an acrylic system.

The work includes removing lead-based paint.

A containment system and dehumidification are required.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers include Tnemec, Sherwin-Williams, Carboline or an approved equal.
