Contract Awarded for 5 INDOT Bridges

The Indiana Department of Transportation has awarded a $3,333,314.64 contract for the rehabilitation of five existing bridge structures located in Warrick and Spencer Counties, Indiana, to Ragle Inc., of Newburgh, Indiana.

Bids were submitted April 11.

Ragle Inc. was the lowest of four bidders. Additional bids included: Weddle Brothers Highway Group LLC, of Bloomington, Indiana, in the amount of $3,225,591.95; E&B Paving Inc., of Anderson, Indiana, in the amount of $3,597,996.50; and American Contracting & Services Inc., of Jeffersonville, Indiana, in the amount of $3,867,140.53.

Scope of Work

The awarded contractor will oversee bridge deck overlay and superstructure replacement of three existing steel beam bridges on SR 68 over Upper Pigeon Creek, Little Pigeon Creek and Anderson River. The project also includes bridge deck overlay of a concrete girder bridge over Pigeon Creek, as well as rehabilitation and pipe lining of a small bridge structure north of SR 66.

The Indiana Department of Transportation has awarded a $3,333,314.64 contract for rehabilitation of five existing bridge structures located in Warrick and Spencer Counties, Indiana, to Ragle Inc., of Newburgh, Indiana.

The project includes 2,760 square yards of hydro demolition. The project also includes lump sum items for partial cleaning and coating existing bridge structures. The steel will be coated with the INDOT standard inorganic zinc-epoxy-polyurethane system; this system is subject to change according to project requirements.

Owner-approved manufacturers include Ameron (PPG), Carboline, International Paint and Sherwin-Williams. Containment according to SSPC-Guide 6 is required: Class 3 for zinc-primed existing systems and Class 2 for lead-primed existing systems. SSPC-QP 1 certification is required; SSPC-QP 2 certification will be required if the existing structure was constructed before 1995.

The project also includes lump sum items for surface sealant application. Owner-approved manufacturers are Advanced Chemical Technologies, BASF, Evonik, Sika and WR Meadows.
