North Carolina Elevated Water Tank Out for Bid

The Town of Cary is seeking contractors for the rehabilitation of the Maynard Road Water Tank in Cary, North Carolina.

Bids are due Sept. 11.

Scope of Work

This project involves cleaning and recoating the interior and exterior surfaces of an existing 500,000-gallon elevated water storage tank.

The Town of Cary is seeking contractors for the rehabilitation of the Maynard Road Water Tank in Cary, North Carolina.

Contractors will abrasive blast-clean wet interior tank surfaces to Near White standards (SSPC-SP 10/NACE No. 2). Dry interior tank surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No.3). The interior surfaces will then be coated with a three-coat epoxy system.

Exterior tank surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6/NACE No.3) and coated with a zinc-rich primer, acrylic-polyurethane intermediate and fluoropolymer finish.

The existing tank coatings contain lead. A containment system is required.

The owner-approved coating manufacturers include Sherwin-William, Carboline and Tnemec.
