Scope of Work
The project includes replacement of the truss portion of the Hi Carpenter Bridge with a three-span continuous curved steel plate girder bridge. This will comprise of replacing the existing deck with a concrete deck, replacing stringers and risers, and strengthening floor beams. The project will entail installation of steel barriers with a pedestrian railing and a new approach connection.
The project will also include a lump-sum item for cleaning and coating the existing steel bridge, and an additional lump-sum item for cleaning bridge structures. Exposed reinforcing steel will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial (SSPC-SP 6) standards or Near White (SSPC-SP 10) standards. Galvanized steel surfaces will require solvent cleaning. Steel will be coated with a three-coat organic zinc-rich system. This system is subject to change according to project requirements. The owner-approved manufacturers are PPG, Carboline, International Paint, Sherwin-Williams and Wasser.
The contractor will also oversee 12,376 square feet of concrete protective coating application. The owner-approved manufacturers are Sherwin-Williams, Tamms Industries and Textured Coatings of America.
Containment and disposal are required.
Certification for SSPC-QP 1 and SSPC-QP 2 are required.
