Monday, April 2, 2018

Catoosa County is seeking a qualified contractor who has experience with historical structures to restore a historical building known as “The Old Stone Church,” in Ringgold, Georgia. The work will include replacing the deteriorated woodwork and coating exterior surfaces.

The building was constructed in 1850 to serve as a Presbyterian church. During the Civil War era, the church was also used as a military hospital. In 1979, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places and now serves as a public museum for the Catoosa County Historical Society.

Catoosa County is seeking a qualified contractor who has experience with historical structures to restore a historical building known as “The Old Stone Church,” in Ringgold, Georgia. The work will include replacing the deteriorated woodwork and coating exterior surfaces.

Bids are due April 12.

Scope of Work

The awarded contractor will clean and coat the exterior wood trim, doors and walls of the rear addition of the Old Stone Church.

Prior to coating application, wood surfaces will be sanded and cracks will be filled. Any existing wood surfaces that are replaced must also receive the same preparation treatment. Once all wood surfaces are prepped, the contractor must prime the surfaces with an exterior oil-based wood primer application. Following priming, the wood surfaces and one metal door will receive a coat of an exterior latex satin treatment.

Exterior stucco will be cleaned, primed and a high-build waterproofing system will be applied. The manufacturer recommends power washing the stucco prior to coating application, providing the surfaces are in good condition.

All coating colors for this project will be chosen by the owner for historic preservation. The owner-approved brand for the coatings is Sherwin-Williams and no substitutions will be considered.

Work is expected to be completed within 60 calendar days after a notice to proceed has been issued.
