Three-Tank Rehab Out for Bid

The City of Hondo, Texas, is seeking contractors to rehabilitate three existing water storage tanks.

Bids are due April 19. The project is estimated at $700,185.

Scope of Work

This project involves rehabilitating and coating the 500,000-gallon Spatz and Golf Course Ground Storage Tanks and the 250,000-gallon Downtown Elevated Storage Tank.

The work includes abrasive blast-cleaning the interior tank surfaces to Near White standards (SSPC-SP 10). The interior surfaces will then be coated with a zinc-rich urethane primer and three-coat epoxy system.

Exterior tank surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to Commercial standards (SSPC-SP 6), and coated with a zinc-rich polyurethane primer, acrylic-polyurethane intermediate and fluoropolymer finish.

A logo will be painted on the exterior of the Downtown Elevated Storage Tank.

The work also includes coating pump, rotor, blower, motor, baseplate, equipment, exposed iron/steel and piping surfaces.

The owner-approved coating brand is Tnemec.

The exterior surfaces of the elevated tank contain detectable levels of lead and chromium. Containment is required. 

A warranty inspection shall be conducted during the eleventh month following the completion of all coating and painting work.
