IN Bridges Up for Rehab

The Indiana Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform the superstructure replacement and bridge deck overlay of five existing bridge structures located in Warrick and Spencer Counties, Indiana.

Bids are due April 11.

Scope of Work

Work will consist of bridge deck overlay and superstructure replacement of three existing steel beam bridges on SR 68 over Upper Pigeon Creek, Little Pigeon Creek and Anderson River. The project also includes the bridge deck overlay of a concrete girder bridge over Pigeon Creek, as well as rehabilitation and pipe lining of a small bridge structure north of SR 66.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is seeking contractors to perform the superstructure replacement and bridge deck overlay of five existing bridge structures located in Warrick and Spencer Counties, Indiana.

The project will include 2,760 square yards of hydro-demolition. The project also includes lump sum items for partial cleaning and coating existing bridge structures. The steel will be coated with the IN DOT standard inorganic zinc-epoxy-polyurethane system; this system is subject to change according to project requirements. Owner-approved manufacturers include Ameron (PPG), Carboline, International Paint and Sherwin-Williams.

Containment according to SSPC-Guide 6 Class 3 is required for existing zinc-primed systems and SSPC-Guide 6 Class 2 for existing lead-primed systems. SSPC-QP 1 certification is required for all five structures and SSPC-QP 2 certification will be required on those that were constructed before 1995.

The project also includes lump sum items for surface sealant application. Owner-approved manufacturers are Advanced Chemical Technologies, BASF, Evonik, Sika and WR Meadows.
